- The consultant will design, develop, and test a functional and replicable manual press for interlocking soil-cement blocks using locally available materials, ensuring affordability, durability, and ease of use for small-scale workshops. The work includes prototype refinement, preparation of technical documentation, and knowledge transfer to local partners to strengthen the capacity of local metalworking enterprises. In parallel, the consultant will lead training activities for artisans and IFPELAC Lichinga trainers on manufacturing and using the presses, combining practical and pedagogical approaches to promote skill dissemination. This intervention will foster job creation and entrepreneurship, especially for youth and women, by enhancing opportunities in the production, maintenance, and commercialization of presses and blocks, while advancing sustainable, low-impact construction practices that support a green and inclusive local economy.
