  • Request for proposals are invited for Soil Organic Carbon Baseline Survey-Limpopo National Park Herding 4 Health Program - Rangeland Restoration Sites in and around Limpopo National Park Mozambique The Conservation International (CI) and Peace Parks Foundation (PPF) Herding 4 Health Program (H4H) seeks to monitor existing rangeland restoration sites as well as additional sites identified for a carbon feasibility project. The aim is to establish a Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) baseline in alignment with the Verified Carbon Standard. All sites have or are planned to have various interventions such as improved livestock management and planned grazing. Existing sites are within and outside the southern part of Limpopo National Park in Mozambique. The sampling will be based on standard soil sampling procedures to quantify SOC. The sampling strategy, data collection, data management and reporting will be finalized in collaboration with CI staff as part of an initial 3-day field trip, whereafter the consultant will complete the work. ยท Kick off fieldwork, work with CI staff over the first 3 field days to confirm protocols, equipment use, and data entry ยท Collection of soil samples at 100 pre-determined sites, this will be bulk density and SOC samples, approximately 15 to 20 days after kick off session has been completed ยท Soil sampling will comprise per site: 4 bulked 20-cm soil cores and bulk density (training for latter can be provided). ยท Ensure safe storage of samples with field office who will ensure delivery to appropriate analysis facility. Soil samples must be securely stored until such time these are transported to a laboratory ยท Collation of data and all metadata into Excel templates to be provided ยท The location of each sample must be recorded using GPS ยท A short report summarizing the sampling campaign describing any challenges and potential improvements for future campaigns. Submission of Deadline: ยท Deadline. Proposals must be received no later than August 30, 2022, at 17:00 East Africa Time. Late submissions will not be accepted. Proposals must be submitted via email to procurementaffd@conservation.org. All proposals are to be submitted following the guidelines listed in this RFP. ยท Validity of bid. 120 days from the submission deadline
